Nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a malignant tumor originating from the mucosal epithelium of the nasopharynx, predominantly occurring on the superior and lateral walls of the nasopharynx, especially in the pharyngeal recess. It is one of the common malignant tumors in China. Common symptoms include blood-tinged nasal discharge, nasal obstruction, tinnitus, and hearing loss.

Pharyngeal tumor

Pharyngeal tumors are clinically classified into benign and malignant tumors. Benign tumors include papillomas, hemangiomas, nasopharyngeal fibromas, and pleomorphic adenomas. In addition, schwannomas, neurofibromas, lymphangiomas, lipomas, and chondromas may also occur, but these are all relatively rare. Among malignant pharyngeal tumors, nasopharyngeal carcinoma is the most common, while tonsil cancer, malignant lymphoma, and rhabdomyosarcoma are less common. Leiomyosarcoma and malignant melanoma are rare.
