Acquired aural atresia: Aural atresia that develops after birth due to various factors, such as burns, inflammation, tumors, trauma, foreign bodies, and surgical injuries of the external auditory canal. Congenital aural atresia can be identified at birth by the presence of microtia and the absence of an external auditory canal. Acquired aural atresia often presents with a sensation of ear blockage and hearing loss. If complicated by infection or suppurative otitis media, symptoms such as ear pain or ear discharge may occur.
