In addition, depending on clinical needs, there are also anal swabs and blood draws (serological) for nucleic acid testing. Compared with oropharyngeal swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs stay in place for a longer time during sampling. In the detection of pathogens such as influenza and coronaviruses, nasopharyngeal swabs have a higher positive rate than oropharyngeal swabs, and a lower false negative rate.

The manifestations of toxoplasmosis are complex and diverse. The vast majority of infected individuals have no obvious symptoms, which is called latent infection; a small number of patients may develop very severe symptoms, which can even be life-threatening. *Toxoplasma gondii* parasitizes nucleated cells in humans and animals, mainly invading the eyes, brain, heart, liver, lymph nodes, and other parts, which can cause toxoplasmic hepatitis, ocular toxoplasmosis, toxoplasmic encephalitis, etc. Infection in pregnant women can affect fetal development and lead to severe malformations.
