Albinism

Albinism is a genetic disorder caused by a defect or significant reduction in melanin synthesis, characterized by a lack of pigment in the skin, hair, and eyes. Patients exhibit symptoms of albinism when genes involved in melanin production mutate. Due to varying inheritance patterns and mechanisms of action among these genes, albinism can be categorized into three main types: oculocutaneous albinism, ocular albinism, and albinism-related genetic syndromes.

Melanoma

Melanoma is a tumor originating from melanocytes, characterized by a high degree of malignancy. It primarily occurs on the skin but can also develop in various other sites or tissues, including mucous membranes (including visceral mucosa), the uvea of the eye, and the soft meninges. In the Chinese population, it is commonly found on acral skin (such as the soles of the feet, toes, fingertips, and subungual areas) and mucous membranes (such as the nasal cavity, oropharynx, and upper and lower gastrointestinal tracts). This disease is more prevalent in adults over 30 and the elderly, with a higher incidence in males than females. Male patients also have a higher mortality rate. It is rare in children. Key symptoms include the appearance of asymmetric patches with uneven color, irregular borders, and a diameter often greater than 6 mm.
