Bile duct stones

Choledocholithiasis is a common biliary system disease in China, characterized by the formation of stones within the bile ducts due to bile stasis, biliary infection, and other factors. Depending on the location of the stones, it can be classified into extrahepatic choledocholithiasis and intrahepatic choledocholithiasis. The symptoms of choledocholithiasis depend on the presence of biliary infection. Patients with mild conditions may experience no discomfort. The most common symptoms are upper abdominal pain or dull upper abdominal pain. In severe cases, symptoms such as chills, high fever, and jaundice may occur. Choledocholithiasis can also lead to complications such as liver function damage, gallstone pancreatitis, cholangitic liver abscess, biliary cirrhosis, systemic infection, and even cholangiocarcinoma.

Irritable bowel syndrome

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a group of chronic or recurrent functional bowel disorders characterized by abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits and/or stool consistency, without any structural or biochemical abnormalities in the gastrointestinal tract. It is the most common functional bowel disease. Surveys indicate that IBS predominantly affects young and middle-aged adults, with a high incidence between 18 and 30 years of age. Onset after 50 years of age is rare. The main symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, and changes in bowel habits and/or stool consistency. Abdominal pain often improves after defecation.
