Dystocia
Dystocia
Prolonged labor generally refers to labor lasting more than 24 hours. For women carrying twins or multiple fetuses, prolonged labor is defined as labor exceeding 16 hours. Prolonged labor increases the likelihood of a cesarean section, and an excessively long labor can lead to fetal hypoxia, abnormal fetal heart rate, abnormal substances in the amniotic fluid, and intrauterine infection.
