Conjoined twins

Conjoined twins refer to a phenomenon where parts of the bodies of twins are connected, which is a very rare congenital malformation. Conjoined twins are extremely rare. The incidence during pregnancy is approximately 1/50,000 to 1/100,000, and the incidence in live births is about 1/200,000. Most studies show that the incidence of female conjoined twins is significantly higher than that of males, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:3. The most common types of conjoined twins are those connected at the chest or abdomen.

Fetal macrosomia

Macrosomia, also known as large for gestational age, refers to a fetus with a birth weight of ≥4000g. The occurrence of macrosomia is a result of multiple factors, including maternal overnutrition, reduced physical activity, coexisting diabetes, and genetic factors. With the rapid economic development in recent years and the improvement of living standards, the average birth weight of newborns has increased, and the incidence of macrosomia is also on the rise.
