Traumatic brain injury
Traumatic brain injury
Traumatic brain injury (TBI), also known as "closed head injury," refers to head trauma, most commonly caused by falls and impacts, followed by blows. It often occurs in disasters, wars, or traffic accidents. TBI is one of the common emergencies in neurosurgery, especially severe TBI, with a mortality rate of approximately 30% to 50%. Even if patients survive, almost all severe TBI patients will have permanent disabilities.
