Acute pancreatitis
Acute pancreatitis
Acute pancreatitis is a sudden inflammatory reaction caused by the self-digestion of the pancreas. The pancreas secretes pancreatic fluid, which digests substances such as sugars, fats, and proteins in the human body. When the outflow of pancreatic fluid is obstructed and accumulates within the pancreas, it can activate digestive enzymes, leading to the self-digestion of pancreatic tissue. In severe cases, it can cause dysfunction of other organs. This disease is primarily characterized by epigastric pain, and may also be accompanied by symptoms such as abdominal distension, nausea, and vomiting. It is common in chronic alcoholics, obese individuals, those with hyperlipidemia, those with gallstones, and those who overeat.
