Tracheal foreign body is one of the life-threatening emergencies caused by foreign body obstruction of the trachea. This disease is common in children under 3 years old. The main symptoms are upper airway obstruction, including severe paroxysmal cough, shortness of breath, cyanosis, etc., followed by dyspnea and even cardiac arrest.

Pulmonary edema is a condition caused by an imbalance in the production and reabsorption of fluid within the lungs, leading to a rapid accumulation of a large amount of fluid that cannot be absorbed. This fluid extravasates from the pulmonary capillaries and collects in the alveoli, pulmonary interstitium, and small bronchi, resulting in severe impairment of lung ventilation and gas exchange. Key symptoms include extreme dyspnea, orthopnea, cyanosis, profuse sweating, and paroxysmal coughing accompanied by a large amount of white or pink frothy sputum.

Tracheal tumor refers to a tumor that occurs below the cricoid cartilage and above the tracheal carina. It is a rare disease of the respiratory system. It is more common in adults, with about 90% being malignant, mostly low-to-moderate malignancy, and is highly prone to misdiagnosis. Approximately 90% of tracheal tumors in children are benign. The main symptoms of tracheal tumors include irritating cough, sputum production, wheezing, chest tightness after activity, shortness of breath, and blood-tinged sputum.
Pulmonary bulla
Pulmonary bulla, also known as lung bulla, refers to the formation of air-filled cysts larger than 1 cm in diameter within the lung tissue due to increased intra-alveolar pressure, rupture of alveolar walls, and subsequent fusion of ruptured alveoli caused by various factors. Generally, small, solitary pulmonary bullae are asymptomatic. Larger or multiple pulmonary bullae can cause symptoms such as chest tightness, shortness of breath, and dyspnea. Males, tall and thin adults, and long-term smokers are more prone to developing pulmonary bullae.
