Vulvar leukoplakia

Vulvar leukoplakia, also known as vulvar white lesions, refers to a group of chronic diseases characterized by changes in the pigmentation of the skin and mucous membranes of the female external genitalia. It is characterized by vulvar itching, and the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva show varying degrees of hypopigmentation, which can thicken into lichen-like changes or atrophy. Vulvar leukoplakia mainly includes chronic simple lichen simplex chronicus of the vulva and lichen sclerosus of the vulva.

HPV infection

HPV infection refers to infection with the human papillomavirus. More than 100 types of HPV have been identified, each with its own number. HPV infection primarily causes proliferative lesions of human epidermis and mucous membranes. For example, high-risk HPV types (such as types 16 and 18) can cause vaginal and cervical intraepithelial lesions and are associated with the development of malignant tumors like cervical cancer; low-risk HPV types (such as types 6 and 11) can cause genital warts.
