Liver failure refers to a syndrome caused by extensive necrosis of hepatocytes due to various reasons, leading to a decrease in the liver's biosynthesis, transformation (detoxification), metabolism, and excretion functions. It is ultimately characterized by coagulation dysfunction, jaundice, hepatic encephalopathy, and hepatorenal syndrome. Liver failure can be divided into four types based on the acuteness and chronicity of the disease course: acute liver failure, subacute liver failure, acute-on-chronic liver failure, and chronic liver failure. The main symptom of liver failure is a general decline in health, with significant systemic fatigue. Gastrointestinal symptoms are particularly prominent, and special clinical symptoms may also appear.

Viral hepatitis is a group of infectious diseases primarily causing liver damage, caused by hepatitis viruses. According to etiology, it can be divided into five types: hepatitis A (HAV), hepatitis B (HBV), hepatitis C (HCV), hepatitis D (HDV), and hepatitis E (HEV). Prevalence of each type of hepatitis: Hepatitis A has the highest incidence in preschool children, followed by young adults. The positive rate for anti-hepatitis A virus is high after 20 years of age. The incidence of hepatitis B is 5% to 6%, with males more affected than females. The global infection rate of hepatitis C is approximately 2.8%. In China, the positive rate for hepatitis C virus in the general population aged 1-59 is 0.43%, with an estimated 10 million cases. Hepatitis D is dependent on hepatitis B. Among individuals positive for hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), the hepatitis D virus infection rate ranges from 0% to 32%. Hepatitis E is more common in middle-aged and elderly individuals.

"Big Three Positive" is a colloquial term referring to a condition in chronic hepatitis B patients where three markers in the hepatitis B virus "two pairs and a half" test are simultaneously positive: hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg), and hepatitis B core antibody (HBcAb). "Big Three Positive" indicates that the hepatitis B virus is actively replicating in the chronic hepatitis B patient and is highly infectious. However, "Big Three Positive" does not necessarily mean that liver function has been damaged.

Tuberculous peritonitis is a chronic, diffuse peritoneal infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Based on pathological anatomical characteristics, it can be classified into three types: exudative, adhesive, and caseous, with the former two being more common. During the progression of the disease, a mixed type with 2-3 coexisting types may occur. Tuberculous peritonitis is more common in young and middle-aged individuals, with a slightly higher incidence in females than males. The main symptoms include fatigue, fever, abdominal distension, and abdominal pain.
