Anterior uveitis
The uvea is located between the sclera and the retina of the eyeball, mainly including the iris, ciliary body, and choroid. Because it contains pigments and has color, it resembles a purple grape, hence the name uvea. Uveitis is an inflammation of the intraocular uvea caused by various factors such as infection, immunity, or injury. Anterior uveitis is the most common type of uveitis, including three types: iritis, iridocyclitis, and anterior cyclitis. It is often associated with rheumatic diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis. The main symptoms include eye pain, photophobia, tearing, and decreased vision.
