Psoas abscess refers to the infection and suppuration of the psoas muscle, leading to abscess formation, due to inflammation in the lumbar region or abdominal cavity. The abscess occurs within the psoas muscle sheath and can spread around the psoas muscle along its course to the iliac fossa and inguinal region. The main symptoms include pain, swelling, and restricted movement in the affected area.
