Spina bifida occulta

Spina bifida occulta is the most common type of occult spinal dysraphism, often occurring in the lumbosacral region. It involves one or more vertebral laminae that are not fully closed, but there is no protrusion of spinal canal contents. Most cases of spina bifida occulta remain asymptomatic throughout life with no external manifestations. A small number of cases may cause symptoms such as enuresis, low back pain, or leg pain, requiring timely intervention.

Trigeminal neuroma

The trigeminal nerve originates from within the skull, passing through the cranial bones, and primarily controls facial muscle movement and sensation in the face and oral cavity. Trigeminal schwannoma is a common benign cranial nerve tumor that originates from the trigeminal nerve sheath. Patients typically develop the condition in middle age, with a peak incidence between 40 and 50 years old. It is slightly more common in women than men, presenting as paroxysmal facial pain or numbness on one side, followed by weakness and atrophy of the masticatory muscles.
