Acute epiglottitis

The epiglottis is a leaf-shaped structure composed of cartilage and mucous membrane, located in the throat, which prevents food or liquid from entering the trachea during swallowing. Acute epiglottitis is an acute inflammation of the epiglottis caused by infection, trauma, or other factors, also known as acute supraglottic laryngitis. Common symptoms of this disease include sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and fever.

Nasal sarcoidosis

Rhinoscleroma, also known as scleroma, sclerotic nose, or respiratory scleroma, is a low-contagious, chronic inflammatory granulomatous disease caused by Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis. This disease often initially affects the nose and slowly progresses to the upper lip, nasopharynx, oropharynx, hypopharynx, trachea, and bronchi, forming hard granulomatous inflammatory masses that lead to deformity or obstruction. Therefore, it is also known as respiratory scleroma.
