Choroidopathy

The choroid is an important part of the eyeball, a soft, smooth, elastic, and highly vascular brown membrane. Its main functions are to nourish the outer retina and to provide light-blocking effects, which help in image formation in the eye. The retina is located in the inner layer of the eyeball wall and is a transparent membrane with photosensitive properties. Choroidopathy refers to inflammation affecting the choroid, leading to changes in the choroid. Depending on the type of inflammation and the affected area, different symptoms may arise, such as flashes of light, decreased vision, blurred vision, and double vision.

Malignant melanoma of choroid

Choroidal malignant melanoma is the most common intraocular malignant tumor in adults. It can occur in any part of the choroid, but is more common in the posterior pole of the eye, with both localized and diffuse growth patterns. This disease is more common in people aged 40-60 years. It is more prevalent in Caucasians, followed by Asians, and is rare in Black people. The main symptoms include decreased vision, incomplete visual field, distorted vision, and floaters.
