Pterygomandibular space infection
Pterygomandibular space infection refers to an acute suppurative infection of the pterygomandibular space, primarily characterized by trismus and pain during chewing and swallowing. The infection can spread superiorly along these tissues to the temporal and infratemporal spaces, anteriorly to the buccal space, anteroinferiorly to the submandibular and sublingual spaces, and medially to the parapharyngeal space.
