Lacrimal duct obstruction
Lacrimal duct obstruction refers to a condition where the lacrimal drainage system is blocked due to various reasons such as inflammation, trauma, congenital atresia, tumors, stones, or foreign bodies. The lacrimal drainage system starts from the puncta, passes through the canaliculi into the common canaliculus, then converges into the lacrimal sac, and finally enters the nasolacrimal duct, forming the tear outflow system. Lacrimal duct obstruction can occur at all ages, but is primarily seen in middle-aged and elderly women. The main symptom is epiphora. If not treated promptly or thoroughly, there is a risk of secondary intraocular and extraocular infections.
